Organic Corn Carryover Expected to Rise

 

Organic corn prices for new crop are beginning to bottom. Merchandisers are telling the Jacobsen that while prices are still soft, farmers are unwilling to sell below $7 per bushel mid-west picked up at the farm. But even getting organic corn at $7.25 is still a struggle. Merchandisers have told the Jacobsen that this year will be a bumper crop and organic corn will not be damaged and below #2 in many cases. This was not the case during the 2019/2020 season which produce organic corn that was damaged and below spec.

The Jacobsen now sees that stocks to use increased to 5% the highest the Jacobsen has calculated over the past 4-years. The Jacobsen now predicts that the carry over into the 2020/2021 season will increase to nearly 4-million bushels.
