Weakness in the SBM Market Leads to Pushback on Blood Meal

Light movement was noted for most items throughout the animal protein sector as soybean meal saw large discounts and created volatility in related markets. Pushback was noted on bloodmeal for both ruminant and porcine while the meat and bone meal items were rangebound but on the weaker side of steady. Sources indicated ruminant MBM as low as $850, with some light trading reported over the $1000/MT mark for the Mo. River market. 

SBM has had a negative tone over the last month and prices have come off 5 percent for June comared to May. Reports of improved weather conditions for the Midwest, such as cooler temperatures and increased rainfall has led to some loss of buying support for SBM.
