Organic soybean prices for new-crop still hold an inversion to old-crop prices. The difference is striking when comparing the inversion to conventional soybeans or organic corn. It’s tough to find old crop beans, and farmers are becoming wise to the potential scarcity of organic soybeans. Farmers who recently let their organic soybeans go for 25,26 and 27 dollars now see a trend and appear to be holding on to beans for the current harvest. Imports are also declining. In May, approximately 5,370K metric tons of organic soybeans were imported into the United States. According to the U.S. Customs Department, this is the lowest level on record for May, going back to 2012 when tracking organic soybean imports into the United States.
