Dry Weather Continues to Impact the Western Organic Corn Belt

Organic corn prices are steady, and there does not seem to be much activity for new crop prices. The harvest and, therefore, the weather will continue to have an impact on this new crop. The Jacobsen does not see any boats with organic corn arriving soon.

Dryness remains a widespread concern across U.S. northern Plains and the upper mid-West, according to weather provider Maxar. While a few showers have favored far northeastern North Dakota so far this week, drought conditions remain widespread, maintaining significant crop stress across most of the northwestern portions of the corn belt. Below-average rainfall is expected to continue across the northern Plains and the upper mid-West over the next ten days, which will allow soil moisture to decline further. Above-average temperatures over the next ten days will also add heat stress to corn.
