Soybean Crush Margin Declines as Soybean Prices Climb

 

Central IL Soybean Crush Margin Reaches 13-Week Low

The Central IL estimated crush margin moved lower during the past week. Co-product revenue streams from the crush moved in opposite directions during the week with soybean meal prices climbing and soybean oil values falling.  The rise in soybean cost during the week carried the crush margin lower.  In Central IL, soybean costs increased 2.5 percent while revenue from meal and oil sales moved fractionally lower during the week ending July 22, 2021. The value received from oil and meal sales per bushel of soybeans crushed declined from $17.34 per bushel to $17.27, while soybean prices increased from $14.52 to $14.88 cents per bushel.  This caused the margin to narrow 41 cents to $2.39 per bushel.  The crush margin is 16 percent below last week’s level but 89 percent above last year’s value on this date.
