Steady Cattle Slaughter Forecasted for the Week

A steady call was not for the animal proteins market with limited movement reported for most items. For the week ending July 31st, 2021, cattle slaughter is anticipated to be 655,000 head, a .46 percent increase from last week and a 2.94 percent growth from the previous year.

According to the USDA July 22nd Livestock Slaughter report, beef production has totaled 2.40 billion pounds, up 1 percent from the previous year. Average live cattle weights are currently at 1,346 pounds, down 19 pounds from last year due to continued accounts of drought and high summer heat.
