Limited Hide Trading This Week Due to Sufficient Inventories

The steer market had more activity today with a few trades on Heavy Native Steers and Butt Branded Steers $0.50-$5 higher than yesterday’s reports. Branded Steers and Dairy Cows were reported $2 lower than yesterday’s price levels. Overall, the week’s trading activity was slow due to sufficient buyer inventories and disagreement on pricing between buyer and seller. The week’s estimated cattle slaughter was 577,000. The previous week’s kill was 624,000 and the corresponding week last year it was 581,000. Year-to-date slaughter at 23.043 million is up 3.8 percent from 2020.
