Trading was quiet today to start the week.
For the week ending October 16th, 2021, cattle slaughter is forecast at 635,000 head, only a 0.02 percent increase from 2020; a 0.15 percent uptick from the previous week and a 0.74 percent growth from 2019. According to the USDA Actual Slaughter Under Federal Inspection for October 2nd, average live weights are currently at 1,374 pounds, one pound below the weight at the start of September and 16 pounds above the respective period for 2020.
