Biodiesel output strong in Q2; producers start locking in Q3-Q4 sales

With significant price pressure witnessed on grains and live cattle/hog markets on the CME along with continued logistical strains; pricing continues to be affected in the animal protein sector. Several participants reported issues moving items as well as an increase in the number of offers for both the meat and bonemeal and bloodmeal markets. A low of $650/ST was reported for both of the ruminant bloodmeal regions while porcine bloodmeal out of the Indiana market traded at a low of $775/ST. Increased demand following the Thanksgiving holiday was reported from multiple contacts on both the chicken meal and poultry-by-product pet food grade (PFG PBM) markets, with a high of $725/ST reported for PFG PBM in limited volume.
