Technical tallow was again offered and untraded today at lower prices through the Chicago market. BFT was flat for both packer and renderer, but sellers suggested that buyers are hard to find at the moment. The “no one wants to catch a falling knife” saying was oft repeated throughout the market today.
Choice white and yellow grease prices were lower today in the West and Midwestern markets. Yellow grease was indicated lower out of the NY market, but UCO prices are steady at the printed range. Bids for used cooking oil are sharply lower after yesterday’s drop at the CBOT, but reports of actual traded volume are non-existent at the lower numbers. Buyers are prudently lowering their bids on a negative macro environment, but the threat of government-imposed restrictions tied to fears over the spread…
