Renderer and Packer Grade BFT Prices Jump on Strong Demand, Supply Concerns

Prices were higher in a number of markets today. Buyers are reaching into February and sellers are charging a risk premium to book material out ahead. Supply remains a concern with COVID cases limiting labor at several packing plants. Packer BFT traded higher in four cars on a Chicago basis this afternoon and was bid higher before the close of trade. Renderer BFT was bid at 69.5 earlier in the afternoon and was bid higher before the end of the day.

Choice white grease was higher on a Chicago basis with two rail cars reported. Missouri River and Indiana trading was higher as well. Sources have indicated that sellers are asking over 60 cents delivered for trucks out of the Mo. River market. Feed buyers are pushing back on price increases, but renewable demand for yellow grease is driving the market higher on an FOB basis.
