Narrow Price Gap Between Cows and Steers

Narrow Price Gap Between Cows and Steers

The hide market remained quiet today with a few active trades for Butt Branded (BBS) and Colorado Branded steers. Sources reported lightweight BBS down $.50 and middleweight down $1 from yesterday’s price levels. CBS prices are also down $1 for each light, middle, and heavy weight. As the Lunar New Year approaches and logistic concerns remain unchanged the market seems to be under some pressure. This narrow price gap between cows and steers might have cow buyers interested in steer hides because of tight spread.
