Despite concerns over Ukraine’s ability to export organic corn, European organic corn prices are stable. Organic wheat prices are trading in a wide range between €330-360. Prices will likely continue to rise as it becomes more challenging to find organic cereals. One commodity that has already seen a surge in prices is European organic sunflower seeds.

Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen that organic sunflower seed prices have recently jumped 25% to €850 per metric ton. Europeans have been using sunflower cake as a replacement for organic soybean cake of meals, and this rapid increase will not help the organic feed consumers. Organic sunflower cake prices are currently quoted in the €650-720 range, depending on location in Europe.
