Organic soybean meal prices continue to remain in the spotlight as the International Trade Commission makes its preliminary determination on an anti-dumping duty. Organic soybean meal prices are between $1,450 and $1,500 on both coasts and are offered near $1,500 in some mid-west parts. It’s hard to see a scenario where prices begin to fall.

Anecdotally, approximately 30K metric tons of organic soybean meal imports come into the U.S. from India per month. May will be the second month that this does not occur, and U.S. beans will not be readily available again until November 2021.

If the International Trade Commission makes adverse preliminary determinations of injury, the investigations would have been terminated. The ITC Preliminary Determinations were scheduled for 5/17/21 or before. The initial petitions were filed on March 31, 2021. The Department of Commerce Initiation Date was on 4/20/2021.
