Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Crude oil futures ended the day down 59 cents per barrel, but closed the week more than a dollar higher. Heating oil futures closed fractionally higher on the day and up 4 cents per gallon to 1.93 for the week. Soybean oil futures moved lower today, which, when combined with the slightly higher move in HO, pushed the BO-HO spread 3 cents lower to 40 cents per gallon.
