Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Soybean yields were raised 1.1 bushels per harvested acre, mainly on increased yields in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. This bumped soybean production up by 93 million bushels to a record 3.981 billion bushels. With the increase in production, the domestic crush was elevated 10 million bushels to a projected 1.89 billion in order to satisfy expected meal export demand.
