Sausage Casing Bulletin

Runner Market Activity

Trading was quiet this week with no spot action seen out of the North American or EU markets. The US monthly hog slaughter report was released yesterday showing 9,951,000 head slaughtered in May of 2017. Hog slaughter for May 2017 is up 8% compared to May of last year. The bump in production should provide a boost to hog packers drop values with casing price up $0.32/runner over a year ago.
