Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Surging soybean and canola oil prices put a damper on the economic outlook for biodiesel production and blending. Southern Canada is being hammered by moisture shortages that will likely end up effecting oil yield. Domestically, the US market is reacting to similar conditions in the corn belt.
