Trading was very quiet today and mostly unchanged. Record or near record low temperatures have affected logistics and operations today throughout the Midwest. Hog slaughter was estimated at 216,000 head today, less than half of yesterday’s total. Today’s downtime will likely be made up over the weekend with temps expected in the mid to upper 40’s in the cold affected areas.
