Protein trading was quiet to start the week.

Hog slaughter closed out last week at an estimated 2.494 million head. The forecast for this week is 2.5 million and 2.468 million per week through the month of March.  The average weekly slaughter for Q1 of 2019 is projected to run an average of 150,000 head of hog per week above 2018’s pace, which was well above 2017.
