Organic corn prices continue to ease into the harvest. Merchandisers are seeing a few small trades of prices below $8. Most see the Q4 closer to $8.25 picked up at the farm. December has historically experienced a low point in organic corn imports, which should keep prices steady. Organic corn in the south-central PA region has also eased slightly with merchandisers pegging the price close to 10.80 per bushel.
The US Customers Department Officially released its organic corn import figure for the month of August. Organic to the Foreign Agricultural Service, the volume of organic imported whole corn hit 30.2K tons in August, approximately 2K more than the Jacobsen’s initial estimate of 28K tons of organic whole corn.
Organic whole corn imports have declined as the total or organic whole corn and organic cracked corn that have reached US shores. The average volume of organic whole corn as a percent of the total is approximately 40% which has remained consistent over the past 2-seasons.
