Organic Cracked Corn Imports Rise

 

Organic cracked corn imports rose more than expected according to The Jacobsen. The steady stream is helping to keep organic whole corn prices subdued. While there appears to have been no issue with cracked corn imports that arrived in April, the shipments likely left in February before the widespread of COVID-19 through western Europe and the United States.

The Jacobsen reports that organic cracked corn imports rose by 22K metric tons in April. The shipments of organic cracked corn came from Turkey and were unloaded in Stockton California. Despite the robust level of organic cracked corn that arrived in April, imports to the US in the first 4-months of 2020 are down 12% year over year.

Going forward, the question for traders is whether imports of organic cracked corn will be able to keep pace with 2018/2019. In the 2018/2019 season, approximately 23.5K metric tons imports arrived in May, 23K arrived…
