Organic Corn Imports Will Likely Ease into the Summer


While bids for spot organic corn mid-west picked up at the farm remain depressed, there could be a location divergence occurring. While there is little spot trade activity, new crop prices in the northeast and mid-Atlantic near south-central PA are approximately 360 a short ton, or 10.08 per bushel. The Jacobsen believes transportation to the mid-west, puts Q4 prices of organic corn in a range between $7.15 and $7.35. This is approximately $0.25 higher than current levels.

The Jacobsen organic planting survey revealed an increase in organic corn and organic soybean planting intentions. The increase was widespread and it was generally from organic farmers increasing the acres they intend on planting, rather than new farmers first entering the…
