Organic Chicken Slaughter Stabilizes at Average Levels

Organic Chicken Slaughter Stabilizes at Average Levels

Organic grain trading activity in Europe is slow. Merchandisers see organic soybean meal prices offered by Chinese sellers near $780 per metric ton for new-crop in the Q4. Spot organic soybean meal prices are tight and could fetch higher levels if a spot load it needed. New crop organic wheat prices are hovering near 215-euros per metric ton FOB the Baltics. Organic corn has not traded recently for the Q4, but indicators show it near 230-Euros per metric ton FOB Constanta.

Despite the decline in meat plants that closed, there remain several that are shuttered. This number has recently decelerated, but initially, these slaughterhouse closures weighed on organic chicken slaughter numbers. The majority of the meat plant closures currently are beef and pork, while a few chicken and turkey slaughterhouses remain shut.
