Meat and bone meal prices were lower into China and Indonesia this week. Increased production of proteins in a number of the exporting markets has added supply and thus cheaper prices to the market. Buyers may have cut inclusions rates over the last two months as prices soared relative to soybean meal. Prices into China are down by $55/MT over the last month and prices into Indonesia are off by $92.50/MT.

Australian prices were mostly steady this week. Meat and bone meal values were indicated at sideways levels. Production last week was off 7 percent compared to the week prior and 22 percent relative to last year. Female slaughter, depending on state, is down 13 – 34 percent, an indication that cattle farmers are starting to hold back stock for repopulation. The JBS Dinsmore facility which is the largest cattle slaughter facility in the country, has idled contributing to the reduction in slaughter and in turn supply of bovine proteins.
