Biodiesel Imports and Exports Remain Strong, Decline from April
The US imported 19.8 million gallons of biodiesel during May while exporting 21.1 million gallons. Imported gallons were 22 percent below April’s volume, while exports were 5.7 percent lower, according the US Census Bureau. Cumulative 2020 imports have reached 87.7 million gallons and are 12 percent above 2019 imports through the first five months of the year. The United States is averaging 17.5 million gallons of biodiesel imports per month, which is about 2.5 million more gallons above average during the prior two years. Four countries shipped biodiesel to the US during May, one less than in April. Canada and Germany accounted for the majority of the volume, shipping 55 and 24 percent of the monthly volume.
Renewable diesel (RD) imports are not covered by the US Census Bureau but are tracked by the Energy Information Administration (EIA)….
