Porcine fat traded higher today with Chicago lard, Missouri River choice white grease and Carolinas choice white grease prices higher. Production remains strong, but increased interest from biofuels and improved feed demand have helped to push the market higher. Yellow grease did trade lower into the KS/TX market this week. The overall tone of the market is steady to slightly higher. The must-sell loads that were widespread over the last two to three weeks seem to have evaporated. Producers also seem to be less in a catch up mode, which helps explain improving feed demand and ration inclusion rates that are closer to historic norms.
