Biodiesel Imports and Exports Slow Again in June but Outpace 2019

The US imported 18.3 million gallons of biodiesel during June while exporting 21 million gallons.  Imported gallons were eight percent below May volume, while exports were basically steady, slipping a mere 0.44 percent, according the US Census Bureau. Cumulative 2020 imports have reached 106 million gallons and are 16 percent above 2019 imports through the first half of the year. The United States is averaging 17.7 million gallons of biodiesel imports per month, which is about 2.5 million above last year’s pace.  Eight countries shipped biodiesel to the US during June, twice as many as in May. Both Sweden and Austria sent volumes to the US in June, although the amounts were extremely small. Canada and Germany accounted for the majority of the volume, shipping 53 and 23 percent, or a combined 76 percent of the monthly volume.
