Derecho Impacts Corn and Soybean Condition

 

Crop Progress 

Corn:

  • 76 percent dough
  • 23 percent dented
  • 69 percent good to excellent; 10 percent poor to very poor

The corn crop has completed the silking stage.  Corn in the dough stage has reached 76 percent and 39 percent is now dented. Crop conditions felt the impact of Derecho with crop quality suffering primarily in Iowa over the past week. Fields rated good to excellent fell two points 69 percent and fields rated poor to very poor increased two points to 10 percent. On a state level, conditions in Iowa bore the brunt of Derecho, with Iowa crops rated good to excellent falling by 10 points to 59 percent and fields rated poor to very poor climbing from 8 percent to 17 percent.
