Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Organic feed wheat prices have remained stable and are now hovering near the $6 per bushel level, nearly equal and exceeding organic corn prices in some locations. Feed wheat prices are quoted as high at $6.50 per bushel in some locations where demand for wheat exceeds corn. The demand for feed wheat has eased somewhat due to the low value of organic corn. With a bumper crop in organic corn expected, few consumers are willing to bid even $6.50 per bushel, and farmers appear to want to hold off until prices rebound back to $7.00 in the mid-west picked up at the farm.
