Soybean and Corn Crop Conditions Continue Lower

Corn:

  • 88 percent dough
  • 44 percent dented
  • 5 percent mature
  • 64 percent good to excellent; 12 percent poor to very poor

Corn reaching the dough stage is 88 percent, while 44 percent is now dented, and five percent is mature. Crop conditions continued to move lower following the derecho windstorm. Fields rated good to excellent fell five points to 64 percent and fields rated poor to very poor increased two points to 12 percent. On a state level, conditions in Iowa fell 9 points to 50 percent in the good to excellent category and increased four points in the poor to very poor category. This year’s corn crop is now rated below last seasons. Last year fields rated good to excellent were 68 percent versus 13 percent poor to very poor.
