Trading was quiet coming off of the long holiday weekend. Indications for the week are higher, but again, trading was quiet today. 

Cattle slaughter finished last week at a robust 633,000 head, up 11 percent from a year ago and down 3 percent relative to the year prior. Slaughter is forecast to move lower over the next six weeks. This week, slaughter is projected out at 575,000 head, down 9.6 percent from the week prior and last year. Over the next six weeks, slaughter is forecast at an average of 625,000 head,…
