Chinese Demand Keeps Grain Exports Strong

 

Weekly Export Sales 

Soybean export sales for the 2020/21 marketing year were 2,457.1 thousand metric tons (TMT),which were 14 percent below the four-week average of 2,846 TMT. There were no sales for the 2021/22 crop season, leaving total sales at 2,457.1 TMT.  Combined crop year sales were below last week’s total but within analyst estimates that ranged from 1,500 to 2,800 TMT. 2020/21 export commitments are 56 percent of the USDA forecast. Export sales are noticeably above the 2019/20 crop year pace. Major purchases were reported for Japan, China, and Vietnam.

Soybean meal sales for the 2019/20 marketing year were a net reduction of 105.4 TMT and a marketing year low. Weekly sales were 132.1 TMT below last week’s total and noticeably below the prior four-week average of 57 TMT. New crop sales totaled 197.3 TMT, lifting total sales to 91.9 TMT.
