Packer BFT Trades at Higher Price

Four cars of packer BFT traded higher into the Chicago rail market late yesterday. The top side of the Missouri River choice white grease market moved higher today with sellers seeing good demand from the biodiesel sector. At an average of 27.5 cents per pound, choice white grease has a relative price to nearby corn of 417 percent. At + 400 to nearby corn, feeders have historically formulated more corn in the rations and less grease.

Yellow grease and poultry fat prices moved higher as well. The poultry fat market has been boosted by higher Midwest prices, strong corn and corn oil values and strong demand from the turkey sector. Big soybean oil demand through the fourth quarter has limited optionality for the biodiesel industry and buyers looking for high iodine value…
