To address climate change, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has prioritized action on transitioning to renewable energy and reducing pollution in an effort to diversify and strengthen Colorado’s economy. Reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) pollution to meet the state’s goals is expected to take a multi-faceted approach.
In 2019 Colorado passed the Climate Action Plan to Reduce Pollution, which targets GHG reduction 26 percent by 2025, 50 percent by 2030, and 90 percent by 2050 from 2005 levels. The Roadmap presents options for near-term actions (1 to 2 years) and assesses the potential for additional policies to make progress toward the mid-term goal in 2030 and the 2050 goal.
