Hog Slaughter Forecast Higher

Hog slaughter finished last week at an estimated 2.6 million head, down 2.15 percent from a year ago levels. The slaughter is forecast to trend higher over the next six weeks, projected at 2.65 million head this week and up to 2.75 million head on the week ending November 14th. The next six weeks are forecast an average of 6.5 percent over the prior six weeks and 0.1 pecent under last year’s slaughter. The increase in slaughter adds risk for lower prices to the choice white grease market….
