Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Organic corn prices continue to feel the weight of a robust upcoming harvest and with prices on the coast easing, it’s hard to point to an impetus that will buoy prices. Bids in Pennsylvania are close to $300 per short ton (some even below at $295). The Jacobsen has been told by merchandisers that organic corn on the west coast has traded at $310 up to $320 per short ton. Much more organic corn moves west to east than east to west from the middle of the US due ot the issues relative to expense with rail. Organic corn trading activity is light in the mid-west. Prices are hovering near $6 per bushel.
