Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Chicago CWG and renderer BFT traded steady today. The recent activity in the Chicago market points to well balanced supply and demand in the tallow markets. Choice white grease trading was steady today with no changes reported. Some sellers are short on nearby material and are well sold at the upper end of the printed range, buyers, especially in the feed sector, are pushing for numbers under 27 cents FOB but thus far there has been no trading confirmed at that level. Missouri River choice white grease finished the month of September with an average relative price to soybean oil of 79 percent, 2.6 points under the prior three year average.
