Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Ethanol production declined 24,000 barrels per day to a 913 million-barrel-per-day average during the week ending October 16, 2020. Ethanol and DDGS volumes pulled back on economic related concerns. Ethanol production was 2.6 percent below last week’s report and 8.3 percent under levels at this time last year. DDGS output declined 2,283 metric tons per day and was 7,894 MT below production from a year ago.
Gasoline supply went dropped 3.4 percent and was 14 percent below 2019 levels for the same period. Ethanol stocks fell to 19.7 million barrels. There were no ethanol imports during the past week. Reduced ethanol output lowered corn demand 356 thousand bushels per day. DDGS output moved with ethanol production, falling 2.6 percent for the week.
