US Biodiesel Production Narrowed during 2019

 

US Biodiesel production Capacity Declined 49 MMgy with 11 Fewer Plants During 2019

The Annual US Biodiesel Plant Production Capacity report, released by the US Energy Information Administration, shows data for all operating US biodiesel plants as of January 1, 2020.

The data shows annual production capacity narrowed from 2.563 billion gallons per year on January 1, 2019 to 2.514 billion gallons on January 1, 2020.  Ten states experienced loss of production during 2019 with Florida and Missouri seeing multiple plant closures.  Utah had the largest production decline, dropping 40 mmgy with loss of Washakie Renewable Energy not appearing on the 2020 production report.  In total, capacity was reduced by 114 million gallons due to companies dropping of the list.
