August Biodiesel Production & Feedstock Use – EIA

 

Biodiesel Output Holds Steady From July, Elevated Relative to August 2019

The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Monthly Biodiesel Production Report showed 163 million gallons of US biodiesel produced from 1.24 billion pounds of feedstock during August. Biodiesel production and feedstock consumption was fractionally above July. August 2020 production was 4.5 percent over August 2019. The ratio of feedstock used per gallon of biodiesel produced, narrowed from 7.64 pounds to 7.60 pounds per gallon.

According to the EIA, production was from 88 biodiesel plants, down one plant from last month, with a capacity to generate 2.46 billion gallons. Production as a percent of capacity was 79.5 percent. Monthly domestic production capacity per the EIA is 204.9 million gallons.
