Tallow Price Steady, DCO Prices Up Sharply

Packer grade bleachable fancy tallow prices (BFT-P) prices are steady on seven cars into/through the Chicago market this afternoon. Choice white grease prices moved higher out of the Missouri River and Indiana markets. The higher prices fats in the East and higher prices on BFT and DCO have contributed to the move higher.

Distiller’s corn oil (DCO) prices moved sharply higher today supported from strong feed and renewable demand. The surge in soybean oil was the main driver of the price increases with the nearby contract up 12 percent over the last eight trading days. Demand for vegetable oils for all veg diets and for renewable fuel applications remain strong and a higher output value for the renewable producers and higher competing input costs for both the feed and biofuels markets add risk for further prices increases in the near term.
