Hog slaughter finished last week at an estimated 2.71 million head, down 2.04 percent from a year ago levels and up 1 percent from the week prior. The slaughter is forecast to trend lower over the next six weeks, projected at 2.35 million head this week and to 2.12 million head on the week ending January 1st.
