Meat Meal Exports Up In October

Trading was quiet today with no changes reported in the animal protein market. US export data were released by the USDA today showing a sizable increase in meat meal exports and a modest drop in feather meal exports.

Inedible meat meal exports are estimated at 87,485 tonnes for October, up 8 percent from September. The top four export destinations were fairly close in terms of percentage of total. Indonesia was the largest importer at 19,898 tonnes; China imported 18,465 tonnes; and Vietnam 16,820 in October. Mexico was the fourth largest importer by volume at 15,070 tonnes.

Feather meal exports were down 224 tonnes from September at 6,959 tonnes. Indonesia was the largest buyer by volume at 4,884 tonnes followed by Chile at 1,518 tonnes.
