Strong Non-GMO Egg Sales Fail to Spill Over into Feed Demand

Organic corn prices in the mid-west are edging higher as prices on the coasts continue to remain buoyed. Merchandisers are telling The Jacobsen that activity is slow, but bids are up to $7.10 delivered in the mid-west. In Pennsylvania, organic corn is trading slightly north of $9 per bushel. In California, prices are quoted close to $340 per short ton. Feed demand remains solid, as organic animal protein sales at supermarkets continue to outpace conventional sales.

US Grocery Store Sales are Strong

While the spread of the pandemic in November weighed on the jobs market, and overall retail sales, consumers picked up their grocery store purchases. Organic retails sales at supermarkets jumped more than 10%, the first year over year increase of more than 10% since July 2020.
