Four cars of renderer bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) traded higher today on a Chicago basis. Nearby demand continues, while offerings are slim. Choice white grease was steady today with limited spot trading reported. The big jump in the corn market has added additional upward pressure to the market. At 400 percent of the price of corn, fat has a value today of just under 38 cents per pound. Through the first half of the month, choice white grease FOB Missouri River has averaged 354 percent of the price of corn, 26.5 points over the prior three-year average.
