Organic Soybean Prices Versus Conventional Converge

 

Organic soybean prices remain elevated, but the upward movement has stalled relative to the conventional market. Organic soybeans are bid at $20 per bushel in some mid-west areas, with offers coming closer to $21. In Pennsylvania, organic soybeans are trading near $23 deliivered. Organic soybeans in Indian are offered at $720-$730 per metric ton.

Merchandisers are telling The Jacobsen that exporters are offering soybeans from Africa. During 2020, approximately 15K metric tons of organic soybeans were exported to the United States from Africa, 11K metric tons coming from Togo. The issue with organic soybeans from Africa is they have a track record of experiencing rejection when they reach US shores.
