Organic corn prices are getting bid-up slightly in the mid-west. Prices are primarily near $9.2-$9.40 delivered in the mid-west. With trucking rates are rising, prices are closer to $12 in Texas, Pennsylvania, and California. With trucking rates moving up to $3.25 per quarter, the costs are bearing the brunt of the corn price climb. There are minimal organic whole corn imports expected during Q2. After 22.8K arrived in March, The Jacobsen does not see this volume having come in April or May. This import figure compares to 43K metric tons that came in April and May of 2020. Organic corn in Q2 of 2020 came from Romania. With shipping rates rising sharply, there is a chance this organic corn will go to Europe and not make it to the United States in Q2 2021. While The Jacobsen fully expects more organic corn to come from Argentina, it will not likely come to the United States until Q3 and the beginning of Q4.
