2021 Biodiesel Imports 18% Below 2020 Pace through April

 

Biodiesel Export Volume Surpasses Import Volume in April

The US imported 20.8 million gallons of biodiesel during April while exporting 21 million gallons. Exports exceeded imports for the first time since September of 2020. March exports were 85 percent above March but six percent below April of 2020.  Imports were 45 percent above March but 18 percent below April of 2020, according the US Census Bureau. Import volume is off to a slow start, as 2021 volume trails that of 2020 by 18 percent through the first four months of the year. Export volume is off to a better start and is 30 percent over the volume exported through April of 2020.  

The United States averaged 17 million gallons of imports per month during 2020 while exporting an average of 12 million gallons.  The 2021 average is 14 million gallons per month for imports and 12 million gallons for exports.  Imports have reached 56…
