US Biofuel Capacity Reaches 20.78 billion Gallons

 

Biofuel Capacity Increases in April

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) Monthly Biofuels Capacity and Feedstock Update for April showed an increase in biofuel production capacity and slight reduction in feedstocks consumed.  Fuel Alcohol production capacity increased from 17.376 billion gallons to 17.396 billion, while biodiesel and other biofuels capacity held steady from month to month.  Biodiesel capacity was pegged at 2.41 billion gallons and other biofuels (defined as renewable diesel fuel, renewable heating oil, renewable jet fuel, renewable naphtha, renewable gasoline, and other) at 971 million gallons of capacity.

April feedstock consumption declined slightly from March, with most of the weakening attributable to less corn used in the production of fuel alcohol.  There was 22.87 billion pounds of corn used in…
